The New Year brings increased support for the homeless men, women, children and families of our community.
The Thurman Brisben Center, our community’s 80-bed year-round emergency homeless shelter, received an extraordinary gift on December 14 and on January 2 — a “love offering” totaling $28,000 from Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Stafford. The Brisben Center has sheltered and provided second chances to thousands of homeless men, women, children and families in our community over the past decade. Mount Ararat has faithfully supported Brisben and other community nonprofits for several years by allocating a significant portion of its own funding to making a difference in the lives of those struggling in our community. The church's increased support is critical to the Thurman Brisben Center's continuing effort to serve the homeless in the four-county region and in the City of Fredericksburg.
