Physical Illness of Self Becomes Huge Issue

Most recently TBC has noted an increase of terminally ill homeless individuals.  Due to the extent of their illness, it is impossible (and inhumane) to expect them to follow the same type of programmatic infrastructure as the policies require.  As stated in other areas, TBC strives to work with individuals in an effort to address and overcome the underlying issues that caused their homelessness.  However, when one is terminally ill, addressing those issues is a rather mute point!

Over the past 8 months, TBC has served more than 5 individuals who have since passed away due to the nature of their illness.  Some had cancer, some were elderly with illnesses related to that and some had other issues that could have been overcome if there was affordable housing and medical care for indigent.  But, all were homeless and needed a place to stay.

Presently, TBC is housing three individuals who are so ill that there are no services available to them through the Center program.

This page is an educational page to let the community know that there are elderly and terminally ill individuals within our community that have no family or support system and are in their end days.  Please be cognizant of those around you and keep them in your prayers at all times.
