Basic HPRP Information

Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program is part of the American Recovery and Re-Investment Act of 2009. Funds came from HUD to the Department of Housing and Community Development in Richmond, and from DHCD to numerous agencies across the state. Thurman Brisben Center is happy to be one of those agencies.

Some Basics About HPRP:

• Assistance is for rental property only
• Your income must be 50% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI)
• Must be either presently homeless or face eviction within 2 weeks
• Cannot be living in subsidized housing (Section 8, etc.)
• Must be able to show that you would be homeless if not assisted ("but for this assistance")
• Housing cost must be less than 50% of monthly income
• Must be able to show stability after assistance
