Sources of Funding
The Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP), The Emergency Services Grant, a grant from the Rappahannock United Way, and contributions and donations from individuals and businesses.
Contribution Management
Contributors have the responsibility and the right to know exactly where their contribution will go when they donate to any non-profit organization. Thurman Brisben Center (TBC) is classified through the IRS as a 501 (C) 3 organization. TBC participates with the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP). Your contribution could provide you with a 40% tax credit. See our commitment to you, our donor.
Undesignated contributions to TBC go directly toward client services in any or all of the following ways:
- TBC provides cab fare to working individuals prior to their first pay check. This averages approximately $220 each week.
- TBC provides a pay phone @ $95 per month for client's personal use as well as a courtesy phone at the Control Center for business use.
- TBC maintains a TTY
- Personal hygiene products
- Infant formula and diapers/wipes
- Cleaning supplies
- Laundry supplies and upkeep of laundry equipment
- Computer lab supplies and upkeep of equipment
- In an effort to promote self-esteem, portions of the facility are painted annually
- TBC is an 80-bed residential facility. As such, normal wear and tear is much exaggerated from that of a single family unit. Repairs and replacement are necessary on a frequent basis
- Such utility services as satellite dish for clients relaxation, heat and air, water, etc.
- Facility security system for clients' safety
